The Pinnacles National Monument - San Benito, CA

Pinnacles National Monument - continued

The trail we chose took us through the caves, up and down and all around; sometimes you could see where you were hiking and sometimes you couldn't!!

The steep climb out of the caves.......into daylight!

Only the young would jump into that cold, cold water.......

What beauty!

A funny thing happened on the way back to the car.......

The excitement never ends..... this one was waiting for us back at the motor home!

Henry Coe State Park - Morgan Hill, CA

When entering the park for a day of hiking, we encountered a coyote sauntering across the road. We asked the park ranger if we were likely to find other wildlife on the trail and he informed us we could count ourselves lucky if we came across a mountain lion.....

We were lucky alright..... no mountain lions visible!!

Lots of mistletoe hanging on these old oaks.

In the photo below you will note a woodpecker (known as an Acorn Woodpecker) on this old gnarled oak. He was making so much noise and working so hard, we took a closer look and discovered hundreds of holes already drilled into the bark with acorns stuffed into many of them!

Impressive preparation for winter!
